2010 Dixon Mower Models Facts

Dixon mowers are divided into 5 model groups. They are the SpeedZTR, Ram, Ultra, Kodiak, and Grizzly.

Overview
The Dixon SpeedZTR and Ram series mowers are considered to be Residential mowers built for the homeowner who mows his lawn once a week and nothing else. The Ultra (the Ultra being new in model year 2008) is considered to be a hybrid, low-level commercial units which can be used for commercial applications of lower intensity. The Black Bear is a discontinued heavy-duty commercially built unit with smaller cut sizes (34 and 44) for operators who are concerned with quality of cut issues on uneven terrain or for places where access is limited to a smaller entrance width. Kodiak and Grizzly introduce commercial units that are built for heavy duty use. Each series introduces heavier drive components.

SpeedZTR

The Dixon SpeedZTR (pronounced "speedster") is available in 5 versions...30,42,46, and 54. The 30 is a single blademower. The 46 and 54 are 3 blade decks with a lighter duty design for cost-conscious customers.

The 30, 46, and 54 feature a stamped steel deck with vented aluminum hubs with 3/4 inch shafts. All Dixon SpeedZTRs feature the Hydro-Gear EZT hydrostatic transmission.

Dixon Ram mowers are available in 2 models. Ram 48 with a Briggs 26 HP engine and the Ram 52 with a 24 HP Kohler engine. Ram models feature the 2800 Hydro-Gear tranmission.

The Dixon Ram Ultra was introduced in 2008 and is available in a 61 inch version for 2010. The Ram Ultra features pump and wheel motor drive units. The Kohler Courage Pro that powers these units is a good engine and allows a very attractive price; but the Courage is not rated as a commercial engine (like the Command) so caveat emptor. The Ultra is very reasonably priced but probably not a choice for a heavy duty user just because of the engine. The Ultra would be a good choice for someone with a large acreage or a few small commercial accounts to mow. The Ultra sports a Tri-Force mower deck.

Black Bear mowers are discontinued for 2010.

The Dixon Black Bear mowers start the Bear series which signifies the true commercial machines. Parker pumps and wheel motors drive these as well as being assured that all the engines are made for commercial mowing use. Black Bear is available in 2 variations - 34 and 44 inch cuts and Kawasaki 17(34) or 19(44)Hp engines.

The Dixon Kodiak has 2 models. The SE 52 has a 23 HP Briggs Vanguard, and the SE 61 has a Kohler Command Pro. SE models feature Kanzaki pumps and Parker TJ Wheel motors. Tri Force decks are standard.

The largest Bear series is the Dixon Grizzly. 2 models to choose from. The SE 60 has a 29 HP Kawasaki engine, and the SE 72 is powered by a Kawasaki 34 HP. Large Capacity Parker pumps and motors provide the wheel power. Decks are made of 11 gauge steel with cast iron hubs. The Dixon Grizzly is one awesome Heavy-duty machine with materials and workmanship unsurpassed by any comparably priced machine.
